I have bought a new computer and would like to copy TurboTax software for previous years from the old computer to the new computer. Please advise.

After you get the program installed the first thing to do before you open your tax return is to update the program and install any state programs you had. Then open your file. So you first might need to start a fake return to be able to download the state program (go to File-New Tax Return).

If you are using the Download/Desktop version, you will need to make sure you have updated your software.  To manually update for Windows, please see the Help Article here.  For Mac, please see this Help Article.   Then, you can follow VolvoGirl's workaround steps above on how to get your tax file to open.

I have the same problem, my current computer died and now I cannot install the program files on the new computer?   Did you finally get the current program installed? and if yes, how did you do it, please.

My problem was with TurboTax 2021 via Costco download.  My computer technician finally did it after he had many phone conversations with TurboTax.  Turns out many people had issues with the Costco download for 2021.  This year (2022) I again downloaded the Costco version and it worked flawlessly.  Costco obviously made many improvements on their end.

Turbotax says i have no downloads.  I have downloaded twice. thai would be number three.

@papadkp If you cannot find your downloads then you must be using the wrong account or user ID to get to them.

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.
