I have been working for a year at my job and have earned 4,803 but only got 17$ back. I talked to some employees with the same earnings and they got more. Why is that?

There is one guy that started at the same time as me that got 300$ back.

Their tax situation may have been different from yours. There are many factors that go into calculating your refund such a filing status, if you can be claimed as a dependent, etc.
