I have 1099-DIV 's from a Mexican co. called American Movil S.A.B de C.V. that list the FEIN as 00-0000000. What do I enter as the FEIN? 0's & blank both flag TurboTax?

Since América Móvil S.A.B. de C.V. is a Mexican company, it likely does not have a U.S. FEIN. You should be able to enter with ‌a FEIN number.

Here are steps you can take to resolve this issue:

  1. Log into TurboTax
  2. Use the search box (magnifying glass at top right of screen_ in TurboTax to find "1099div" and click "Jump to" to go to the dividend section
  3. Enter the information on the 1099DIV form.  Check the the box where it says My form has info in other boxes (this is uncommon). Enter of foreign tax paid in Box 7.
  4. As you move through the screens, you will reach a screen where the program will ask you to report your foreign dividends earned. Here you will enter the amount of foreign dividend income.
  5. During the review, if you still receive and error - then blank out the FIEN box - then run the review again - this should clear the error.
  6. Reach back out if error persist.
