I had health insurance through National General Accident and Health...does that qualify? At one point I forgot to renew but still had accident coverage...

No, if the insurance that you had was a Short Term Medical Insurance policy through National General Accident and Health, it doesn't qualify as minimal essential coverage for the requirements of the Affordable Care Act.

Their brochure states:

"THIS IS NOT QUALIFYING HEALTH COVERAGE (“MINIMUM ESSENTIAL COVERAGE”) THAT SATISFIES THE HEALTH COVERAGE REQUIREMENT OF THE AFFORDABLE CARE ACT. IF YOU DON’T HAVE MINIMUM ESSENTIAL COVERAGE, YOU MAY OWE AN ADDITIONAL PAYMENT WITH YOUR TAX RETURN."

If you had a different kind of coverage with them, please let me know.
