No, you won't get a 1095-A for Medi-cal. Medi-Cal is California's Medicaid program, which means it is not Marketplace/ Obamacare. You may get a 1095-B, but this form is informational only- it is not entered into Turbo Tax.

This is how you enter your insurance under the Health Insurance section of Turbo Tax:

  1. You indicate that you had insurance all year on the first screen- or indicate the months that you did have it (not sue about January). You then say "Yes" to the question "Was anyone enrolled in any of these less common plans in 2016?" so that you can enter your 1095-A for the Obamacare.
  2. You don't enter any documents or 1099 forms for non-Obamacare plans. The government only wants to know if you were insured. You do not enter your payments, if any, for Medi-cal as the Health Insurance section of the program only wants to know that you were insured and if and when you got Obamacare. It doesn't require plan info on non-Obamacare, and there's no way for you to provide it.
  3. If you see screens about a penalty, this would only be in relation to any months that you indicated lack of coverage.

To enter medical expenses, go to Federal Taxes-Deductions and Credits- Medical
