Is one of them checked at the top for Corrected?  If it isn’t corrected enter both of them separately.  Or what amounts are different?

If the EIN number in box b is the same and you work in more than 1 state or city, sometimes they will give you another W2 with the extra state information on it and the top part the same or not filled in.  If this is the case, list one W-2 but include both state or local  taxes on it.  It will let you type in more than one line for boxes 15-20.  Don't add the boxes together.

Same for boxes 12 & 14 if there is no room on the first W2 they can give you another W2 with the extra boxes on it.  So list them all on 1 W2.  For box 12 just enter it in the next row or box.  It doesn't have to match the box 12a-d etc.

Both don't show as being corrected. Box B has two different numbers. I filed both but it tells me that the information is the same as in employer and my information.Just Box B is different and to delete one to avoid filing error.I didn't work in another city or state. And I have been with this company for three years.this is the first time I'm getting two tax returns .

Box b for the employer identification number?  Or a different box like box 12 code B?   Is the number an amount or a ID like 94-1234567?

You don’t need to enter the control number but if you got 2 W2s you better ask them why.  Are all the other boxes the same?  Then I would only enter one W2.

It depends.  Let's review the details for your W-2.

  1. First, you want to be sure you did earn the combined total of the W-2s
  2. You completed the confirmation of the same EINs in box b - you cannot file two W-2s with the same EIN.
  3. You have confirmed the corrected box on each W-2 has not been checked.
  4. Since there is no correction, the EIN is the same on both W-2s. Enter one W-2 by combining each box amount before entering.
    1. Example - add box 1 together from each W-2, enter the amount for box1.
    2. Repeat this for each box that has an entry.
  5. This will let you proceed to complete your return.

The amounts are different. One W2 shows I earned  more but the other W2 shows that I earned way less

I was able to contact my job and they basically said I received two because of the pay group change that happened last year and to file both W2 together.
