Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I got approved for a capital one card and 5 minutes later TurboTax sent me an email that someone had accessed my tax* file. Can they do that? Even without my login?

My tax refund is "still processing" so maybe It was the irs? I doubt they are checking my account at 11pm my time.. but maybe...

that was probably the credit card company.

Turbotax won't send information about your credit report.  Did you sign up for credit monitoring with Turbo® (which is a Turbotax-branded service run by Intuit) or did you sign up for Credit Karma (which was bought by Intuit)?

If you applied for credit, the credit card company will obviously check your credit report before issuing the card.    This is largely automated these days so it could certainly happen at midnight, how else do you think you can get "instant approval" for a loan?

I'm sorry. I ment tax file not credit file. I was expecting my credit karma and experian emails... but didn't expect TurboTax to be checked. I guess it doesn't matter if capital did check it buy didn't think that was normal.

The only alert I know of is sent when someone logs into your account.  It was most likely you, but maybe with a delayed notification.  Log into your account and check your security settings.  From Turbotax, click "Intuit account" at the bottom left, then "Sign in and Security", then "Account Activity."  If you see something you don't understand, change your password and turn on 2-factor authentication, then call Turbotax Tuesday morning and ask for Account Security.

(Unless there is something funny about Turbotax's purchase of credit karma that is doubling the alert messages?)
