When you requested your extension you were supposed to pay your estimated tax due. Did you enter the payment you made into your tax return? Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes
I could only afford to pay $2000 with my extension at the time. I made other payments in May, August, September and my last payment the first of October of 2024. Where can I enter those payments in Turbo Tax?

When I Go to Federal>Deductions and Credits>Estimates and Other Taxes Paid>Other Income Taxes there is no option for adding tax payments made during 2024 for 2023 taxes. Where should I put the payments?
It would have to be entered either as a payment with an extension or as estimated payments. I don't think payments for the tax due would fit under those categories. How did you make the extra payments? What reason did you pick on the IRS Direct Pay? It needed to be a Balance Due payment. So I think on your tax return you don't enter them and say you will mail a check for the whole amount and the payments should match up at the IRS. Then mentally subtract what you paid from the tax due on 1040 line 37 to see if you owe any more.
What I ended up doing was actually going to the tax payments form in forms view and on that page there are empty fields for payments where I entered the dates and the payment amounts manually. The IRS should be able to verify those payments and the dates they were made during 2024. That zeroed out my tax owed and I filed the taxes electronically. I know that I will still owe interest and tax penalties that the IRS will calculate and send me a bill for since I could not pay the balance in full with my extension. That's how I was able complete the taxes. Thanks for your response.
