A locality income tax is an income tax that was levied by a local tax jurisdiction, such as a town, city, county, or school district.

For example on your Form W-2 , boxes 18, 19 and 20 would report any taxes paid to a locality.

If you are in one of the following states, you may have locality taxes: New York, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio or Oregon.
