Everyone is being asked this question since TurboTax does not know if the user was one who received these advances from the IRS in 2021.
Enter a 0 (zero) when asked to enter a number on the Schedule 8812. This will correct the issue and remove the Schedule 8812 from your tax return so that you can file the return.
thank you - I did that but the smart check keeps asking the same question. I even went to Forms to delete it but doesn't work.

The Schedule 8812 first asks if you received any advance child tax credits. When you enter a 0 what happens next?
It was only when I completed the return and the smart check told me there was an error on my federal return -that I had to enter a number for advancecredits received on form 8812. I did that but when I went to Forms I still see Form 8812.

The only information on the Schedule 8812 that is entered by the taxpayer will be shown in the Principal Place of Abode and Letter 6419 Information Smart Worksheet. Only Line B1 for the Taxpayer should have a 0 entered. Nothing else in the Smart Worksheet should have an entry.
Do not delete the Schedule 8812. Go back to the interview and start your state tax return if started. Finish your tax return. In the Review section of the program you should not be asked to correct an error on Schedule 8812.
Ok thanks.
where do i go to enter the "0"
i don't know where 8812 is
Everyone has to answer whether they received advance child tax credit payments. If you did not receive any of those payments between July and December you need to answer that you did not receive any payments.
There are so many scenarios with those payments---like divorced/never married parents who have issues over who received the payments, who claimed the children, etc. --- the software has no way of knowing if any of that involves you---so you have to answer the questions about it.
Please follow these steps to indicate you did not receive any advanced payments:

This has appeared on at least 3 of the returns I am working on. All of us Single and same thing the Turbo Tax Check for Errors is showing this form. Puzzling, never had this in any previous tax years show up. I select Form View and there it is Form 8812. Why is this showing up and how do we remove it?

The question is no longer popping up. I stepped through the Child and Other Dependent Tax Credits, answered the questions there, but this Form is still appearing.
Select Forms View and this form is still showing. We want to remove it. Where would we enter 0 to have it removed?
TurboTax does not know if the user was one who received these advances from the IRS in 2021? When stepping through , as Single, No Dependents, why would this even be considered?
And if we answered all the questions correctly this form still shows up, makes no sense to the end user.
@everettdae There is no need to delete the Schedule 8812 if you already entered a 0 for the advance child tax credit. It will not be included in the filed tax return.
