If I claim my grandmother as a dependent for tax year 2017, would that cause a debtor to consider monies provide to the dependent, additional income?

I do not know how a debtor would find out that you are claiming a dependency exemption on your Grandmother.  Your tax return is private information and most debtors allow for personal household costs.   Are you providing monies to your grandmother? Is she living else where and you are paying her rent etc.?  If she is living with you, presumably you are paying household bills and food etc. and that is not the same as providing her money.

Thank you for the response. My grandmother lives elsewhere and I send her a monthly allowance. I just don’t want my grandmother’s debtors to discover I’m sending her monies because I claimed her as a dependent on my tax return.
