Yes, if you possibly claimed that someone else could claim you, it may have given you a different filing status and not gave you your exemption. If you marked that someone else can claim you-you shouldn't have been able to file as Head of Household.
To file as head of household, you must:
The first requirement for filing as head of household is that you must have paid for more than half of the expenses involved in maintaining your household during the tax year. which would make you ineligible to be claimed as a dependent. Click here for more information on filing as Head of Household
So depending on which form you filed you can determine what filing status was actually filed with your return. On your 1040A or 1040 you can look at the Filing Status section at the beginning of your tax return. If it has a checkmark in the box for Head of Household then it has not affected your return at all.
If it is showing as single, then this is either because you did not qualify for Head of Household or because you did check that someone else could claim you and TurboTax selected Single as your status. If you have a 1040EZ, you could not have filed as Head of Household.
If you should be Head of Household and you are not, once your return is processed you will need to follow these instructions to Amend Your Return You will see your refund/amount due set back to $0, you will then be able to correct your information. Your amended return must be paper filed. When you get to the end, it may "appear" that you can e-file it, but it must be mailed. It will take 10-14 weeks for the IRS to process your amended return.
