No. You have to buy the program with the License Code. Then if you want a CD instead of downloading it you can buy the install CD for $10. That's because this year they are only selling the Download but people complained about not having a CD so they started selling the CD for $10.
You can buy the program here, or in some stores or Amazon, Costco, Sam's etc.
It depends. Go the section again to see if the exclusion was applied. Make sure you met the Physical Presence Test or Bonafide Presence Test. Also, the Foreign Income Exclusion is capped at $126,500 or $253,000 if Married Filing Joint and both spouses exclude their foreign income. Any income amounts over these limits are taxable income, but you may claim a foreign tax credit for the excess income that is over the limit(s).
If you weren't able to exclude your income, you may claim a Foreign Tax Credit that will reduce the US Tax Liability on the foreign income. You can claim this by going to:
Where did you buy the License Code? You have to buy the download and license code first before you buy the install CD.

Turbo Tax Intuit Website.
I assume $10.84 is the download and license code?

Thank you. Apparently I bought the wrong item. I was in that page when I downloaded the software. "Top 1- says Download Turbox Tax Software".
Do you mean this? If I pay a Delux for $80, it includes download and license code?
Yes that's what you buy. Then it will show up in your account with the License Code.
How to get started with the Desktop program, install and activate it

Thank you. Do you know if Desktop version could allow me to understand how Turbo Tax gets to the tax credit amount? I don't understand why this number they get is so not transparent.
Yes the Desktop program will let you see all the forms and worksheets. What tax credit amount? Where are you seeing it? Did you already fill out a return in the Online version? If you did you can move and open your online return in the Desktop program.
Thanks again. We have filed our tax return on Turbo Tax last week. However, number is puzzling in our heads:
We would really like to understand how TurboTax gets $3925.00 based on our taxable income. That's why I was trying to get a download desktop version. Hopefully it will help us to understand.
Oh you already filed from Online? Then you can ask them to put the Desktop program in your account if you already paid for Online.
What kind of income do you have? Did you have any 1099NEC for self employment? Then you also have to pay Self Employment tax in addition to any regular tax on it.
Self Employment tax (Scheduled SE) is automatically generated if a person has $400 or more of net profit from self-employment. You pay 15.3% SE tax on 92.35% of your Net Profit (If it is greater than $400). The 15.3% self employed SE Tax is to pay both the employer part and employee part of Social Security and Medicare (FICA). So you get social security credit for it when you retire. It is in addition to any regular income tax you owe on it.
Thank you. I wish Turbo Tax customer service is knowledgeable and helpful as you are. We live outside the States. Calling Turbox is the last thing we wanted to do. Our last experience on the phone with them was frustrating. Plus the timezone difference, all making it least desirable. But I may try it again this week, thank you .
Our income in 2024 came from $134,105 of wages, $278 of dividend income, $6,330 of pension income, $42,034 of taxable Social Security benefits, and $134,105 of other losses. Tips to maximize your income You were in the 10% tax bracket for 2024.
I was on IRS tax bracket yesterday for 1040tt, the link is below. What I found what our federal tax should be $1788. https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040tt.pdf
I used both tools Turbox mentioned Tax Calculator that got me $1790; Tax Bracket calculator got me 10% bracket.
Our married filing 1040-SR form:
line 15- taxable income we got $17892 was clear.
line 16- tax $ 3925 NOT CLEAR
I am just trying to understand how does Turbotax calculate to get us in tax amount $3925. Why this process is not transparent?
You can see how your tax return is calculated in forms mode on TurboTax Desktop. This will give you a breakdown of all forms and schedules with your return. To enter forms mode, select forms in the top right corner. Once in forms mode you can navigate through the each form or schedule by selecting the form on the side navigation bar. If you review your return and have any questions about the form, please respond back here for assistance.
I have paid Turbo Deluxe for $69 to file our tax last weekend. Would be possible if you can help us to put the Desktop program in our account? Thanks!
Gee, what losses did you have that brought your taxable income down to 17,892? There are like 7 different ways to figure the tax depending on the kind of income you have. The tax will be calculated on the Qualified Dividends and Capital Gain Tax Worksheet. It does not get filed with your return. In the online version you need to save your return as a pdf file and include all the worksheets to see it.
We thought we excluded foreign income and we didn't pay federal taxes on that. Unfortunately, we ended up paying taxes in both countries. Double taxes.... 😭
