I can not install Turbo Tax on new Dell, freeze at activate. not new year or last . other people have same problem and have new pcs. Does anyone have a fix for this?

I purchased a Turbo Tax Deluxe 2020 Download today. I was able to download it. When I ran install, it installed Turbo Tax, ran updates, and then asked if we should run Turbo Tax. I said yes, the Activate screen came on and it froze. I deleted and reinstalled it, several times.

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron. When I went online for help, I saw many complaints the same as mine. And half of those said they had a new pc. So I tried installing Turbo Tax 2019, which I used last year, on my old laptop, with no issues. I did the same thing.

My wise husband began looking for what was different. After hours of fussing, he changed the display from 1920x1080 to the same as my old machine, 1366x768. It now works. I hope this helps others as well

once activated, you can change the display back to its original setting; it won't affect Turbo Tax once activated.

I also had trouble running my copy of TurboTax Deluxe 2019 on my new laptop. The software would bring up a frozen activation screen with a blue dot.

When I reduced the resolution to 1366 x 768 as suggested, the activation screen was no longer frozen but didn't load completely (animation only).

I further reduced the resolution to 1280 x 720 and restared, the activation screen finally loaded to where I could input my code. After answering some basic questions, I saved the file. and restored my screen resolution to its native 1920 x 1080. The software updated itself again and needed a restart, but everything worked fine afterwards.

I had the same issue.  I purchased the download from Amazon.  I downloaded it twice (2 times) and tried to install / uninstall at least 5 times.  Every time it would go through the Update process and then when it tried to load and present to me the Activation Screen, it would error out.  

Finally, I did a uninstall and then install again.  Went to program directory where I installed it (for me: F:\Program Files(x86)\TurboTax\Deluxe 2020\32bit ) and from within the 32bit folder, I selected the TurboTax application (file type = Application), and then selected it to "Run as administrator" and the activation screen worked.

If you are having issues installing Turbo Tax on your new Dell computer. Simply change your screens resolution to a lower resolution until you are able to see the box where you can enter your activation code.

Intuit dropped the ball on this one. This solution will apply to probably ALL manufacturers, as well as Dell. I had to use this solution on a brand new HP Envy.

Hey, Intuit, if you're not supporting Win7, and forcing people to look at moving forward, the least you can do is keep up by writing programs that work with higher speed graphics.

Initially the activation window was blank.  Turned off McAfee firewall; then the window had

a single blue dot.  Changed the screen resolution (!?) per your post and it worked fine.

This is the last Year I will purchase Turbo Tax. It would not load on my HP computer this year due to some NET fix issue that could not be resolved after 8 hours of research and online help that did not get the program I purchased downloaded. I bought the CD, as I do every year, and I even tried through their download format. Nothing worked.

I had to buy a brand new computer so I could do my taxes for 2020. Now I can not transfer my last year's information. So what happens when I try to install the Turbo Tax on my brand new computer? It seems to freeze at the activation stage. Of course there are no real people to talk to when you call the phone number listed for the Tech Support on the CD package. I have to go to the Support on the computer so I can find some wonderful person who took the time to figure out Turbo Tax's issue and not a Turbo Tax employee.  Who would have ever thought to change screen resolution to load a program? The package says "Monitor: 1024 x 768 or higher". It does not say to set it at that resolution. I tried a few other resoulutions and it did not work unless it was 1366 x 768. I am so happy your husband figured this out. Chalk another fiasco up to 2020 and China.

Dropping the resolution on my Dell Inspiron to 1360x768 fixed the TurboTax white-screen bug. The folks at TurboTax should definitely be working on this bug as it seems easily reproducible.

I have the same problem. New dell xps 8940. Tried changing resolution  same problem
