We're having the same issue, but ours is not limited to just 8582. Exact same error, but also with activity worksheets for schedules C and F. These just happen to be everything AFTER 8582 on my return, so possibly related.
Handsitting for a fix...
I was able to file my Maryland taxes by erasing the 0 method and I realized that it won't go through unless you're at the very end of filing like literally at the part where it's asking for your payment options it'll let u go all the way through until the end where the error pops up one last time remove the zero then it'll jus go through trust me it kept doing me the same way until I said F it ima just keep clicking forward like the error message didn't pop up and it actually worked
My concern with overriding figures and deleting them on 8582 (even if your box 9 ends up zero), is that next year (when hopefully we do not have this problem) the 8582 form will initiate with zeros and any potential passive loses might be forgotten or lost.
Greetings,
Where and how did you access this update? I’ve tried updating multiple times each day since Sunday and still have the issue. I have to have the 8582 form, I can’t zero it out due to rental property and TT should be embarrassed for releasing this disaster. In my opinion they need to fix it immediately and refund the TT purchase price AND waive the e-file charge for those who have this problem.
i have the cd version. not sure if this helps. you can file maryland taxes free at marylandtaxes.gov this is the maryland comptrollers site.
This problem has still not been resolved (see my previous post from approximately a week ago; active CPA here with significant tax experience, so you can be assured that it is not you but Intuit's fault). What makes matters worse is that Intuit assured me that this would be resolved first on the 10th of February and again on the 17th. Well, I open TurboTax this morning, download and install the update - full of hope - only to then get to review and see the same error as always (Form 8582 is not ready). *!*# you, Intuit. I am requesting a full refund of this product and will NOT use your software moving forward.
Same issue here. Today's download did not solve the problem and even trying "fixes" proposed by other users did not allow me to file my returns. You're holding up my refunds TurboTax!!!
try e-filing the Feds 1040 ONLY and then using the State of Maryland Comptrollers Office Web Site Marylandtaxes.gov to e-file Maryland. When e you get to e-filing on TT take out check mark from State e-file.
Hi, E-filing via Marylands e-file mechanism is fine but how do I convert or save the TT Maryland return in order to file thru the Maryland site? I tried that yesterday and I had no ability to isolate the state portion of my TT return. Exactly what is the procedure? A step by step would be appreciated considering the unrepairable cluster that TT is this year. I’ve already paid to file my state so the best and only acceptable method is for TT to fix the freaking problem. I have the CD/Desktop Deluxe version and even with rental income the federal worked perfectly. If 8582 is functional in the Federal filing how can it be unacceptable in Maryland state? Another solution would be for your “experts” to tell us what to enter in the 4 areas considered errors. I can’t even find the answers to do it manually. The longer this takes, the more likely you’ll have demands for refunds, filing expense refunds and at some point compensation for wasted time and the stress it’s caused.
I can't e-file 8582 in my tax software (which costs thousands). IRS is to blame for not being ready.
When you print your Maryland Return, the idiot form doesn't even get used, so there is no reason if you can e-file federal that you can't with Maryland. Plus now having to mail Maryland in, the $20 pre charged is lost, and the refund will take way longer. What an idiotic system.
you can e-file Maryland taxes through the Maryland's Comptroller site: Marylandtaxes.gov
Hello,
I attempted to sign up for notifications via the link you provided. However, the link does not appear to work.
I do require the Form 8582 in order to file my Maryland taxes. So I would like to know as soon as the problem is fixed.
Thank you
Thank you for this, part of it worked. I was able to file federal, but I am still unable to file state.
Hey Intuit...a little help please?
if all else fails, you can e-file Maryland taxes for free through the State of Maryland Comptrollers Office at marylandtaxes.gov. You will need your Fed 1040 for input of income.
