Ohhh  depends on what you are using.

1) IF you are using the Desktop software  (which is what you can purchase on Amazon) then it costs $20-$25 (except NY) to "E-file" the state, even though one state software download is free to use.  You can mail file the state for free though( Well paper and postage).

2) IF you re using the Online software...then you should not be, because the Amazon purchase is ONLY for the desktop software that you install on your home computer.   Online software is an entirely different product..

Not cool - this seems deceiving and should be made clear that efile charges are extra

I am using TT 2020 Amazon purchase is ONLY for the desktop software that you install on your home computer; so why does TT want to charge me again both for the Federal and audit protection. Very unclear response

That answer  was a post from a couple years ago, and isn't true this year....This year (for 2020 taxes), for the very first time in TTX history,  there is an "Online LIVE" purchase you might have made at Amazon,......

BUT, you need to log in thru a special login site the first time you log in "Online" , so that you can enter your purchase code:

IF you DID purchase a TTX LIVE product at Amazon, you can probably log into your Online account using the directions on this page, to get that Purchase code credited to your file:

Unless, of course, you did by the Downlead software...in which case you shouldn't be using the Online browser-based software in the first place.  You should be only using the installed version on your home computer itself.
