I bought the TurboTax Premier 2019 download from Costco but can't get it to launch on a Mac?? Error: You can’t open the application “PREMIERWITHSTATEWIN.exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on macOS. How do I install and launch?

The CD has both Windows and Mac versions on it.  A Mac should ignore the Windows .exc file and only launch the Mac .dmg file unless yiu have some sort of Windows emulator on the Mac to recognize Windows files.

The TurboTax CD has both the Windows and Mac software on it. But you said you bought a download. The downloads are separate, different products for Windows and Mac. When you buy a download you have to select either the Windows download or the Mac download. Based on the file name that you gave, it looks like you bought the Windows download. You will have to contact Costco and ask them if you can exchange it for the Mac download.

@rjs -Is Costco selling downloads this year?  I thought that Costco only sold CD's. (Of course the CD should have directions to obtain a download from TurboTax and when doing that you need to specify Mac or Windows.)

@macuser_22  Yes, Costco has TurboTax downloads for 2019 on their web site. They are listed as "PC" or "MAC."

Yes ... you have to buy the correct version ... downloads are OS specific whereas the CD has both on them ... contact costco to return the wrong one and purchase the correct one ...

And FYI ... ALL the downloaded versions can handle ALL the same forms/situations so unless you want/need extra guidance in the Premier version you can get the Deluxe instead ... but be aware the Deluxe is sold With and Without the state program.

I have to report a small amount of income without a 1099 and I have used the home and business version in the past.  I will be downloading this year and on a Mac.  Are you saying that even in my situation I should be able to buy just the deluxe version?

@mdrach  You can use Deluxe, but you will get less help and guidance, and a less detailed interview for self-employment income. But if your self-employment situation is simple, you can probably handle it with Deluxe. You can always upgrade to Home & Business later if you feel the need.

Yes.  All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions.  And you can transfer from a higher version into a lower version.

Can't install TurboTax on my Mac.

Loaded my Costco TurboTax CD on the CD/DVD drive on my Windows PC.  Connected my Mac to the Windows PC's CD/DVD drive.  Used the Mac Finder app to explore the TurboTax CD.  Can find any "dmg" files.

What am I doing wrong?  I can see the MS Windows exe installation files, but no Mac dmg install files.

Don't know how you are accessing the PC drive but Windows won't see Mac files.  @macuser_22

A PC will not recognize Mac files on the CD.

There is a way to do that but it requires having sharing software installed on the PC so that it can read the Mac files on the CD.
