I believe I got charged twice for TurboTax. I purchased the $40 deluxe edition & it charged me another $40 for a total of $80. How do I dispute this?

I believe I got charged twice for TurboTax. I purchased the $40 deluxe edition & it charged me another $40 for a total of $80. How do I dispute this?

Did you chose to pay the TurboTax product fees out of the Federal Refund?  There is an additional 39.99 service fee for that option.

 

You will save money if you pay upfront by credit/debit card or a prepaid debit card you can buy in a store for a few bucks.

 

If you already chose that payment option and want to remove it, here's how to remove it and pay upfront, depending on your location:

  • Once your e-filed return is in pending or accepted status, it's too late to remove Pay With My Refund.
  • If you switch from e-filing to paper-filing (for example, your return keeps getting rejected), then any Pay With My Refund fee is automatically removed.

 

Here's how to remove refund processing fees and change your payment method before you e-file:

  • Sign in to your account and open or continue your return.
  • Select File in the left menu and proceed to the Just...more step screen.
  • On this screen, select the first Revisit link (next to You've chosen to deduct your TurboTax fees from your federal refund).
  • Select View Payment Options on the next screen and select Pay with credit card on the screen after that.
  • Complete payment by entering your credit or debit card information.
  • Continue to the Just...more step screen to make sure the Pay With My Refund has been removed. Step 1 should now show that you paid with your credit or debit card.

I paid for TurboTax up front with my credit card & it still charged me an additional $40 afterwards

@escalante-danny1  Did you also prepare and file a state tax return?  If so, the additional $40 would be the cost to prepare your state return.

 

If this is not the case, please contact telephone support who can review your charges with you. What is the TurboTax phone number?

I did not file a state tax return either. I live in Nevada so it is not required

I DID get charged twice.

 

My bank records show that I was charged $85.60 on 2-18-21. And on 3-19, another $85.60.

TurboTax has identified this issue and has issued refunds to those affected. You should see the credit reflected in your account in a few days. You do not need to do anything further at this time.

Has this been just resolved for the OP or for others as well? Got charged in February and now again in March. The same amount ($100). Paid upfront using CC.
