As stated above in the title, I am a self-employed sole proprietor that is taking the Schedule 1 line 17 self-employed health insurance premium deduction. I live in the Idaho, and TurboTax is incorrectly applying an income subtraction on Idaho Form 39R line 18.
I paid/deducted approximately $2,500 in health insurance premiums for 2021, and this is what is reflected on Schedule 1 line 17. However, on Idaho Form 39R line 18, approximately $830 was deducted.
This does not make sense at all, since the $2,500 deducted on Schedule 1 is an above the line deduction, meaning it is already taken out of the AGI. Therefore, it does not need to be deducted again on Idaho Form 39R. Plus, why would TurboTax deduct ~$830 instead of the full ~$2,500? The mismatched amounts don't make sense at all.
The instructions for Idaho Form 39R clearly states that:
"Premiums deducted as a business expense can’t be
included in the Idaho deduction for health insurance
costs, since these amounts are already deducted. This
includes amounts of self-employed health insurance
premiums deducted in arriving at federal adjusted
gross income."
Is this a bug in TurboTax? I can't figure out how or why this ~$830 amount is being deducted on my state return. I am using the TurboTax Self-Employed Online edition

I just figured this out by going to the Print Center and using the "Include government and TurboTax worksheets" option.
I actually started my self-employed business in April 2021. Since the self-employed health insurance premium deduction is calculated on a month-to-month basis, I was only able to deduct premiums from April 2021 through December 2021 on my federal return.
For the Idaho return, I am able to deduct health insurance premiums paid, minus any amount already deducted in my federal return. In total, I paid ~$3300 in premiums for 2021. The ~$2500 figure that was deducted in Schedule 1 was only for premiums between April 2021 and December 2021. Therefore, the remaining ~$830 figure was from January 2021 through March 2021. This amount is indeed deductible on my Idaho return.
This is not a bug with TurboTax, and the deduction is indeed correct. My apologies for this post, although I hope it helps others if they stumble across this issue.
