I am retired military who is now self- employed. Can my family's Tricare insurance premiums be claimed on Form 1040, line 29 as a Self-employed health insurance deduction?

I don't want to deduct it on Schedule A.
My income comes from both self- employment and a military pension.
Payments for this insurance are made from a personal credit card.

No, you cannot consider your Tricare insurance premiums as self-employed health insurance. The policy the policy can be in your name or in your business’ name. Tricare policy is not in the name of your business nor is it an individual policy in your name. The policy is written in the name of the US Government and so doesn't qualify.

The premiums are still allowed as a Schedule A deduction.

Thanks for the link. Since the insurance is not established under my business, I can't deduct it from 1040, line 29....just off of Schedule A.
