I am having trouble with my filing status should I file married filing jointly or married filing separately. My husband didn't have a income in 2016 but he has a 1099R

I don't know how I should file this year. That's all he has to file so what do I do?

You can still file a joint return even if one spouse had no income.  On your joint return, enter both your income and your husband's 1099-R.  1099-R's are entered in the Retirement Plans and Social Security section of TurboTax.  Be sure to answer all the follow-up questions about the 1099-R.  TurboTax will determine how much of your husband's 1099-R income is taxable.
