Do you have a TurboTax Online account?

We'll help you get started or pick up where you left off.

I am filing for the first time jointly with my wife, who did not file in 2023. I selected "did not file" but TurboTax has it as 1 dollar, unchangeable. Does this matter?

It happened when trying to eFile. It only happened when I accidentally hit "edit" and now I cannot go back. I confirmed on her IRS website there are NO transcripts for 2023. Is this a bug? Does it matter TurboTax won't let me leave it as "Did not File" but instead has it as 1 dollar?

If your spouse did not file a return last year, you should normally enter $0 as their AGI for 2023.  However, if your spouse did not file, but used the Stimulus Tool to get that refund, TurboTax may be filling in $1 for their AGI as per IRS instructions.

If your Efile ends up Rejected for this reason, you should be able to go back to the FILE section and step through the screens again to change this amount to $0.

If you're using TurboTax Online, try clearing your Cache and Cookies and then going through the FILE interview.

Huh, I can't believe I didn't think to clear cookies and cache. I do assume it's stored on their end though. I'll give that a try.

She did not use the tool to get the refund from what she's told me. I'm not even sure there was a refund in 2023. I haven't found any on google, other than people who didn't get the initial payments.

I'll give that a go and update as best when filing happens if it works and update the response if it doesn't. Thanks!

So clearing the cache did not end up working.

However, it DID end up working by manually setting it to zero. The return was accepted. Thank you for your help!
