I am filing a simple tax return with a W2, 1099-INT, and 1099-DIV that are together below $1500 limit needed for a schedule B. Why am I being charged for TurboTax Deluxe?

What boxes have income on the 1099-DIV?   And do you have any entries in Box 12 of the w-2?     Look at your form 1040 - page 1, what lines do you have income on?   On page 2, what kind of credits are you taking.   Depending on what your tax situation was last year, you might need to use new tax forms to claim the same deductions, credits, or forms of income. Some of the situations that are now in TurboTax Deluxe and TurboTax Live Deluxe, instead of in Free Edition, include:

• Unemployment income
• Retirement Savings Contribution Credit for 401(k) and IRA contributions
• Education credits
• Child Dependent Care Credit

SOLUTION: I had the same problem and Turbotax helped me resolve it, now I don't need deluxe! I clicked the "?" at the top of the page, told the AI that I needed to speak with a person, someone called me (free!), I asked to be transferred to Tier 2 assistance, I explained the situation, they had me screen share, and she gave me a special code to bypass the Deluxe fee! Must be a bug.
