How to obtain 2016 agi for 2017 return

What are you doing?    Are you currently preparing a 2017 return?   If so, how???

A 2017 return cannot be prepared in Online TurboTax.  A 2017 return has to be prepared in 2017 desktop software (CD/download) installed on your computer.  And since a 2017 return cannot be efiled, a 2016 AGI is not needed, at least for filing purposes.

Hopefully you are not mistakenly preparing a 2017 return in Online TurboTax, which is only for 2018.

not needed since you can't efile 2017

Your 2016 AGI was only needed if you were e-filing a 2017 return before the e-filing deadline for 2017 returns.  Since e-filing for a 2017 return is permanently closed, you no longer need your 2016 AGI.  Your 2017 return can only be filed by printing, signing and mailing it.

As epo39b already pointed out--only 2017 software can be used to prepare your 2017 return.  If you used the current online software that is a big mistake.  Post back for further help if you did that.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS received the return.
