How to I split capital gains 50-50 with my spouse when filing Married Filing Separately on joint return? That data in in a 1099-DIV form that belongs to both of us.

This is for the State of Iowa.

You will both have to make a Form 1099-DIV entry in your federal section in TurboTax. On your entry, after you enter the information as listed on your 1099 form, you will see a screen that says Tell us if any of these uncommon situations apply to you. You should choose the I need to adjust these dividends option. Later on you will see an option to adjust the dividends for an amount equal to your spouse's share and you will choose the I received a portion of these dividends for someone else (I am a nominee)  option. That will adjust your entry to the correct amount.

Your spouse would make a 1099-DIV entry like you did, but only enter her share of the dividends.
