Importing 1099 forms
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/entering-importing/help/how-do-i-import-my-1099/00/26254
But It is just as fast and easy to manually enter it. When you enter a 1099 the first screen is How to Enter, by Import or Enter it Myself. Scroll down and click the last circle to enter it myself.
Once you enter Fidelity as one of the holders of a 1099-R, 1099-Div, or 1099-Int, etc., it will ask you if you want to import the forms. Click yes and it takes you to a screen where it is a secure entry for your Fidelity login info. Once you enter your Fidelity login they will all download into Turbo Tax. This year I had a lot so was glad I did. Previous years I just entered the few I had by hand. I liked that it downloaded all my stock transactions into the program as well to easily calculate capitial gains/losses. It was very easy as long as you follow the directions precisely FROM Turbo Tax.
You said login to Fidelity. That does not work. I think I should login to TurboTax. I do that. However, I am logging in from a desktop computer, in the browser. I get into TurboTax, but I see no where to request it download the forms (from Fidelity). The URL in the browser starts off: turbotaxonline.intuit.com/unified/2022/index. There I see, on the left sidebar, 4 items: Tax Home, Documents, Intuit Account, Sign Out. That's it. Clicking on these and following further menu items invite me to enter data manually, but do not seem to lead to a screen that lets me import the tax forms from Fidelity (or any other financial institution).
I had no problem with this last year, but now I just don't see how to do it. It is frustrating because TurboTax sent me email that the forms were ready (from Fidelity) to download into TurboTax. I wonder if this can only be done from a phone app(?), which I do not have.
Thanks for this info. Did you do this with the Deluxe or Premier version of Turbotax?
Can you clarify if you are trying to import from TurboTax online or Desktop? If we know which software, we can try to help you figure out what is going on with your import issues.
I haven't bought it yet, but the product I'm looking at is a download. So maybe it will be desktop. Trying to figure out if I need the Premier version to connect with brokerage and have it import the info directly.
Thanks!
