Are you using Online TurboTax?   If so, you can only prepare 1 Federal return per online account per year.   To prepare a second Federal return, you'll need to use another account (different User ID).    Do not try to prepare a second return in the same account as the first, or you'll overwrite it and make it unrecoverable.

If you need to use the same email address for notification purposes, you can do that (in the Account Settings profile), but each User ID (log-in ID) must be unique.
