How to create estimated payment voucher with blank amount?

Is there some way to print an estimated payment voucher with a blank dollar amount?

Often at the end of the year it can be helpful to make a 4th quarter payment that differs from the suggested amount, however in order to do this a user must go back into the application (almost a year later), manually edit the voucher and then print it.  It would instead be helpful if a user could simply print/save a blank voucher when done with their return so they can make any future adjustments if necessary by writing in the dollar amount.  Thus far I have been unable to identify any way to create a payment voucher with a blank dollar amount.  (Using Windows Desktop version)

I could only find 2025 1040-ES. However, you can make that 4th quarter payment with the IRS Online account for individuals

I think I used to be able to print out the next year's estimates with the amount blank and my name, ssn etc printed.  But my notes say it doesn't look like you can do that anymore.  But once your file estimates the IRS should mail you prefilled blank 1040ES each year to mail in.  Which is  better since they fit in the envelopes they send.  I just got mine for 2025.

Have you looked at the Estimates in Forms Mode?  You can play with the Options.   Go to Forms Mode. Click Forms in the top right (left for Mac). Look though your forms in the left column for Est Tax Options about 3/4 way down near the bottom of the federal forms.

Then you can put amounts in any of the 4 payment boxes in the next section. Click on the amount box on the right and it will turn Blue and type in an amount.

Then at the bottom of the worksheet you click on quickzoom to the estimate you want to print out. The 1040ES payment voucher will open and you can print it out. Or you can over ride the amount directly on the 1040ES voucher.

What I do.   I go back into my return each quarter to refigure my income using the What-If worksheet.  I first copy my return with another name to test in.   Then open the What-If worksheet.   I copy the 2024 amounts in column 1 to column 2 and override them with my new amounts. Click the box at the top of the column to use 2025 tax rates.  Then when you get your income, payments and taxes calculated go to the Est Tax Options worksheet and play with the options.

Ok, I'll try explaining again with a more specific example:  Let's say you are working on the 2024 return (for filing in 2025). When completed it generates payment vouchers.  By the time you get to December 2025 and are ready to send in an amount for the Q4 voucher, the desired amount may not be the same as what was pre-filled by TT back 10 months earlier during filing season. So at that point you have to hope you still have access to the computer where TT was installed, hope that it is actually still installed, run the application, override the Q4 voucher amount, and re-print the voucher for whatever desired amount.  THIS IS A PAIN IN THE NECK AND AN UNACCEPTABLE SOLUTION for something Intuit could easily address . Something as obvious and simple as being able to print out a voucher with a blank amount should frankly be basic functionality.  This way, somebody can have a blank Q4 voucher (or any quarter) already printed/saved at the time they complete their return so later during the year they can pay whatever amount they desire without having to endure the gymnastics of going back into TT again (possibly over and over again) and having to re-create a voucher.  I can't figure out how to override a payment voucher to have a blank amount.  If there is no way to do this, surely the Intuit engineers can easily add 1 line of code to covert a zero dollar amount entered to render as blank.

The 1040-ES form is prominently available as fillable PDF on the IRS website .

Yes, but that approach introduces the possibility of error given the extra work re-entering personal information.  Why should a customer have to do that when they have already paid (arguably ovepaid as of the last few years) for software that lacks the basic functionality of being able to simply create a payment voucher with a blank amount?   It would take an Intuit engineer literally just one line of code to convert an override of $0 to render as blank, or to accept a blank entry as a valid amount.

So if you are going to mail a check just cross out the amount and write in the new amount.  Or you can pay on the IRS website. Be sure to pick 2025 1040ES payment
