how many times can i efile a rejected return

Return rejected for incorrect 2020 spouse AGI.  The 2020 AGI has been triple checked and it is correct.  2019 return was accepted after 2020 return.  Could they want the 2019 AGI.  How many times can I try using a different AGI?

No they do not want your 2019 AGI.

 If it was rejected for AGI—-be aware that many 2020 returns took so long for the IRS to process that your 2020 AGI might not be in the IRS system.   Try using zero instead.

If filing with zero is rejected then file again but select the option that you did not file last year.  The IRS does not see that question and it will allow you to e-file with no AGI question.

If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

Only the 2020 AGI from the 2002 federal tax return Form 1040 Line 11 can be used when e-filing the 2021 tax return.

The IRS may not have your 2020 AGI in their database.

If the IRS rejects your 2021 tax return for the 2020 AGI, then try entering a 0 (zero) for the 2020 AGI and e-file the 2021 tax return again.
