How do I preview my TurboTax Online return before filing?
You can view your entire return or just your 1040 form before you e-file:

Do you live in an area with a local sales tax? TurboTax will not always catch local rates by default, but if you go through the Sales Tax section of the program you have a chance to update to the rate that you are actually paying.
Go to Sales Tax under Estimates and Other Taxes Paid in the Deductions & Credits section of the program. Select the "Easy Guide" option to indicate the name of the state and locality where you live, then look for a screen like the one below where you will enter the rate that you pay - this is most likely the culprit for the mismatch. If this doesn't resolve it for you, though, please do let us know!
Yes, I entered the rate as what the IRS tool gave me. It's just a small amount off. Does it use a simple calculation of AGI * rate I enter? If so, where can I see the TT AGI to see why it's different than what I did by hand?
Everything in the program has a worksheet ... save a PDF with the worksheet to see that calculation ...
You can peek at only the Federal form 1040 and the summary of the state info by going here:
1) lower- Left side of the screen...click to the left side of the "Tax Tools" text selection.
2) then select "Tools"
3) then select "View Tax Summary" from the pop-up
4) then back to the left-side and "Preview 1040"
Then hit the "Back" on the left side to get back to your tax entries.
To view your entire return using the online editions (including the state) before you file, you will need to pay for your online account.
To pay the TurboTax online account fees by credit card, without completing the 2019 return at this time, click on Tax Tools >>> Tools and then Print Center. Then click on Print, save or preview this year's return. On the next page, to pay by credit card, click Continue. On the next screen it will ask if you want Audit Defense, if you do not want this option just click on the Continue button. The next screen will ask for all your credit card information so you can pay for the account.
I got an email about a new notification from Critter-3 that I don't see in this thread (maybe it got deleted?) saying there's a summary page. Specifically they said:
1) lower- Left side of the screen...click to the left side of the "Tax Tools" text selection.
2) then select "Tools"
3) then select "View Tax Summary" from the pop-up
4) then back to the left-side and "Preview 1040"
I used this to confirm the AGI is significantly higher than when I did it by hand so I need to figure out why. There was an issue with the capital gains.

I can pretty much figure what happened to critter-2, but what happened to critter ?
Critter was attached to my Intuit employee account so when I no longer did the "phone an expert" job I was forced to abandon that account. Critter #2 had to be abandoned recently because I hit the 1000 image limit so I could no longer add the useful attachments that I am so fond of.... thus Critter-3 was born. 😉
