Court ordered support given to the child does count as support. This makes matters a little confusing when trying to determine which parent gets to claim the child as a dependent. Please read the article in the Link below to answer any other questions that you may have.

Your link does not mention filing head of household at all. Why provide a link that doesn't even attempt to answer the question????
@lampshade4 You are responding to a years old thread that has had no activity since at least 2019---and it could even be older than that. Do you have a current question about child support or about filing as head of household?
Yes, my question is the same as what was asked. Even if the post is years old, it still hasn't been answered.
@lampshade4 And----we have no information about your situation or who your qualifying dependent is, who is paying or receiving child support, etc. etc. etc.
Child support you pay is not deductible; child support you receive is not taxable. But child support you receive is part of your household income.
Am I Head of Household?
If you qualify as Head of Household, when you enter your marital status (single or married filing separately) into MyInfo, and then enter your qualifying dependent, TurboTax will offer HOH as your filing status.
