The fee is for the service to pay your fees from your federal refund. TurboTax does not get it. The bank that processes the payment gets it. You can avoid the fee by paying your preparation fees before filing.
If you want a service, then you pay for the service. If the company charges too much, do without.
@rlowndes126-gmai You are not required to use refund processing. You can avoid that fee by paying upfront using debit or credit card to pay the fees for using the software. There is no extra fee to e-file.
"Refund Processing" is a choice you have. If you do not want to have your fees deducted from your federal refund by the third party bank, you do not have to do that. In fact, I urge you not to use that service. Save yourself the $39, and save yourself some of the problems that sometimes ensue when that third party bank is involved.
