How do I start my 2023 tax return?

You can't start your 2023 tax return yet. The CD/Download TurboTax software for 2023 should be available in late November, and TurboTax Online for 2023 should be available in early to mid December.

The current online software is only for tax year 2022, which people prepared and filed during 2023.   Next year in 2024, people will prepare 2023 returns.   That 2023 software will become available in late 2023 and then you will be able to file it in early 2024.

I started my 2023 return.  Filled an extension and no longer find that uncompleted from.

Yes, as long as you create a user ID and password, the account, and partial return should be saved in TurboTax Online. Sometimes your browser just signs you in, and it takes you back to the beginning as if you never started your return. 

If this happens to you in TurboTax Online, sign out. This will bring you back to where you sign in. If it shows you more than one user ID, select the user ID you are using this year and sign in again.
