Direction apply to 2019 are out of date with the current (2024) turbo tax program.
To enter interest income when you didn't receive a 1099-INT:
1. Log in to your TurboTax Account. On the Tax Home screen, click Wages & Income and then Review/Edit or Pick up where you left off.
2. Scroll down to investments and savings, and click on Start or Revisit next to 1099-INT.
3. If you haven't entered any investment income yet, you'll be asked if you have any to report. Choose Yes.
4. If you've already added some investment income, select the button that says Add investment income.
5. On the Let's import your tax info screen, scroll to the bottom and choose Enter a different way.
6. Choose Interest from the list of investment income types and then Continue.
7. Select Type it in myself.
8. Enter the payer's name and the amount you received. If it's regular interest, the amount should go in box 1.
This is not correct. TT is still asking for the field, and flagging the entry as in error if it is not provided.
