How do I pay if I owe taxes back

If you owe taxes from a prior year, any refunds from your current or future tax returns will be used to pay back the IRS. Any remaining refund would be sent to you.

If you're unable to pay the taxes due on your current return, the IRS offers installment agreements to allow taxpayers to pay tax due over a period of time. You may complete the form in TurboTax and submit with your return (Can I file a Form 9465 (Installment Agreement Request) in TurboTax?). Or you may file your return and wait for the IRS to contact you regarding the tax due, which will include information about Payment Plan Installment Agreements.
