If you are using the TurboTax online edition, you cannot override the amount. All the information on the tax forms including Schedule 1 is being carried over from the step-by-step interview questions. If you want to edit the information on the forms, you have to revisit certain sections to change the data.
If you are using the TurboTax desktop version, you can go to the Forms mode, to your left, select Schedule 1, locate the lines, right-click and write over the number. To read more information, click here: Override
Right clicking worked for the 2018 program, but when I do it on the 2019 I can a black rectangle around the amount but I can't change anything.

You cannot override an amount on Schedule 1. You have to go to the supporting worksheet to override or enter the amount on the worksheet. Click on the magnifying glass to go to the worksheet.
And why are you trying to override in Forms mode? If there is an error in what was entered in the interview, just go to the section of the program to make a change in the step-by-step interview.
Overriding a calculated field in Forms mode negates the 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee and prevents you from e-filing the tax return.
I have gone to the supporting worksheet and still will NOT override. This has worked in years past, but is not working on this latest software version!!!
OK, please tell us what amount you are trying to override and why you think the amount that TurboTax has generated is wrong.
I live in the Virgin Islands and our withholding stays in the VI treasury but SS goes to Philadelphia. Prior years I can override the amounts to be applicable to VI taxes but in 2019 it wont let me override anywhere. I am in the forms section mode and It wont work.
No way to report miscellaneous income other than the 1099-misc step which forces you to add schedule C. This is WRONG! The miscellaneous income should be directed to line 8 on schedule 1. Unfortunately there is no way to override schedule 1. The miscellaneous income ends up not being reported and an error shows up at the review step. This SUCKS.
Is there another way to report royalties without schedules C or E? For example is there direct access to miscellaneous income?
If this is not a self-employed related income, you can enter under "Other Income section". Here are the steps:
In TurboTax online,
1. Sign into your account, select Pick up where you left off
2. To the right upper corner, in the search box, type in "other reportable income" and Enter
3. Select Jump to other reportable income
4. Next screen, Other Wages Received, select No to continue
5. Next screen, scroll down all the way to the bottom, under Other reportable income, select Start
6. Next screen, Any Other Taxable Income? select Yes to continue
It will show on line 8 of Schedule 1 and Form 1040.
Thanks.
