You can go back to the 1099-MISC entry section, using these steps:
I'm sorry. I wasn't specific enough.
I need to report 1099-MISC box 7 amount to show on "Other Income" Line 8 of Schedule 1 of my 1040.
Which question from the 1099-MISC input interview do I select to get the above mentioned result?
You may have to answer a combination of questions in a certain way to have your form 1099-MISC income be treated as "other" income. It is recommended that you answer the questions posed in TurboTax accurately and truthfully, in order that your tax return be completed correctly.
The key issues surrounding treating income as "other" would involve whether the work is similar to your regular job and was performed in previous and will be performed in future years. If you answer no to those questions, I believe your income will be considered other income, as opposed to self-employment income.
This is not a solution either.
After talking to TurboTax support, I found out, users of 2019 version cannot input 1099-MISC and have it show up in 'other income' in schedule 1 of 1040.
Their solution:
Dont use 1099-MISC input wizard
Put the anount in other income area and label it 1099-MISC
It depends on your facts and circumstances. The IRS receives a copy of all official forms and will be matching what they have to what you reported. While you could report the other income where you wish by the method described, it is not necessarily the correct solution or the solution that will not cause a notice. Without knowing your circumstances, it is wrong to advise you to avoid reporting that income as self-employment income.
