You will get an email from TurboTax when you extension is accepted. You can also go to the TurboTax Check Your E-File Status website for the status of the e-filed extension. If the extension was received and accepted, there will be date/time stamps when it was received and accepted.
Can you please check to see if my 2018 taxes were filed?
Hi,
When I checked my extension it just says and accepted but doesn't mention any time and date.Is it normal?
Even if I download form 4868 it doesn't mention these.
Thanks,
The extension gives you until October 15, 2020 to file your !040. It does not give you extra time to pay tax due. You are supposed to pay your 2019 tax due by July 15, 2020. If you miss the October deadline, e-filing will close down and you will have to mail your 2019 return.
Thank you for reply.I knew if my 4868 is accepted I have time until Oct15..My post relates to original reply posted above that if my extension is accepted I should get an email and extension info' carries date and time accepted.
When I see myTT I have not received --either an email or date and time of acceptance.
Hence I wish to know is it normal?
Does this help?
The IRS states that unless you hear from the IRS that your request for an extension is denied, you may presume that your request for extension has been granted and that your new due date for filing is October 15, 2020.
Note that this sort of denial on individual returns is extremely unlikely.
I sent in the extension form {that I printed from my turbo tax} by postal mail on april 12, 2022; should I be getting some kind of email/text that it was received
No, since the IRS does not send emails or texts.
to know that your extension was granted,
request the extension online at IRS.gov and pay immediately the expected tax in full or in part.
If you mail a check,
your "payment with request for extension" will show as a credit on your IRS record of account also available online.
