Thanks, I have made it that far but how do they calculate when I didn't pay state or local tax on the 1099-NEC?
I guess my question is if Doordash didn't deduct state and local taxes on the 1099-NEC, how will the state get their tax money? I don't see the taxes being deducted like the federal was from my refund.
The state will tax the net income from the 1099 that is reported on your 1040. All of the income from your federal return is being carried over to the state return and the state is taxing it. Most states do not have additional taxes for self-employed people so you're just paying regular income tax to the state.
