The most common use of the 1099-G is to report unemployment compensation as well as any state or local income tax refunds you received that year.

How to enter Unemployment 1099-G:

  1. Click the Federal Taxes Tab( Personal Tab in Home & Business)
  2. Choose Wages & Income
  3. Choose Explore on my own or I'll choose what to work on 
  4. Locate the Unemployment area - Click the Start or Update Button

How to enter 1099-G for State/Local Tax:

  1. Click the Federal Taxes Tab ( Personal tab in Home and Business)
  2. Click on Wages & Income  (choose the option: I'll choose what I work on, if offered)
  3. Scroll down to Other Common Income
  4. Locate  State/Local Tax Refunds on form 1099-G  and click Start or update
