How do I change my filing status before I file?

This can be done in the My information portion of your return.

Once you are in that section of your return:

Scroll down until you see the Marital Status or Filing Status section.
Click the Edit button (or pencil icon) next to it.
The software will ask you a few questions about your marital situation as of December 31st to ensure you meet the legal IRS requirements for your new status.

**Say "Thanks" by clicking the thumb icon in a post
**Mark the post that answers your question by clicking on "Mark as Best Answer"
