Hi everyone,
A few months ago I filed my taxes, and afterwards I received a Notice of Amount Due from the Wisconsin Department of Revenue for some underpayment interest. As such, I am trying to amend my return, and from my own research, it seems that the correct form to use is a Wisconsin Schedule U, so I can change line 74 of my Wisconsin return. However, for the life of me I cannot figure out where to add this form to my return in the software while trying to amend my return. The software search bar has no information on how to do this, and the Turbotax help AI has been equally unhelpful by telling me to click different nonexistent buttons every time I ask the question. Can someone please guide me through what I need to do in order to add this form and amend my return? I would greatly appreciate any help, thank you!

You just have to sign in to your 2023 tax return and indicate that you need to amend your tax return. Follow the questions and add the underpayment of estimated tax penalty.

Hi,
I appreciate your reply! However, when I try to amend my return, when I select the "Guide Me" option to review my amended Wisconsin return, at no point am ever prompted to enter in an underpayment of estimated tax penalty. When I select the "I'll Choose What I Work On" option, I do not see any option under any of the General Info, Income, Credits and Taxes, or Other Situations sections of my Wisconsin return to add the underpayment of estimated tax penalty. Could this perhaps be due to an edition difference in Turbotax? I already filed using the free edition earlier in the year, and my best guess is that this extra complexity is reserved for one of the paid editions. If that is not the case though, under which of the sections for my Wisconsin return I mentioned should this prompt be?
It is part of the main program when you walk through it. As you go through your WI return, you go through income, deductions, taxes, voluntary donations, and continue on until it asks about underpayment interest. Select continue to go through the steps- do not select calculate.
If you are using the desktop software, you can switch to forms mode and pull it up.
