Food stamp allotments are not considered taxable income. Neither the IRS nor state or local taxing authorities may tax food-stamp benefits, according to federal law. If you receive food stamps, you do not need to declare their value on your annual tax return as part of your income.
Most types of public assistance are non-taxable income. If you collect welfare, you don't have to pay taxes on that money. The same applies to SSI—Supplemental Security Income—and all other needs-based programs.
I live in the housing program here in greene county.and I'm living by myself and receive snap n medical through human resources so what am I supposed to do to get that stimulus check ??
If you do not receive regular Social Security payments, and you did not file a tax return in 2018, you will need to file a 2019 tax return. Your SNAP and medical that you receive are not taxable.
If you would not normally file a tax return in 2019, you can use this program to file one for the stimulus payment.
