Good day @Mariegree
Your 2023 taxes are not due until April 15, 2024.
If on or before April 15, 2024 you determine you will not be able to file your taxes on time. You can file an extension using IRS form 4868.
The most important thing to keep in mind is that it is an extension of time to FILE your taxes. Any tax that may be due on your return must still be paid by the due date of the return, in this case, April 15, 2024.
The Intuit TaxCaster Tax Calulator is a great tool to estimate what tax may be due.

I am sorry, I meant. "How do I put my 2022 taxes on extension." In California where I live the due date is October 17, 2023.
Or do you mean your 2022 tax return that you are filing in 2023 now? You had to file an extension by April 18 which gives you to Oct 16 to file. Just file 2022 as soon as possible. If you are getting a refund there is no penalty for filing late. Turbo Tax online version will be shutting down soon after Oct 16, 2023. So if you haven't filed by then you will need to print and mail your return. You will have to switch to the Desktop program to finish after Oct 16.
Just file your return as normal. Nothing special to do. The IRS and CA know your return and any tax due is due Oct 16.
No worries @Mariegree
Your Federal 2023 tax return would have had to be extended by April 18, 2023 unless you live in a Federally declared disaster area.
This is a FEMA tool you can use to see if you are such an area.
As to your California return, if you lived in a disaster area that California recognizes, you would have been, in most cases, granted an automatic extension to October 16, 2023.
Thank you for reaching back out to the TurboTax Community for clarification.
