Unfortunately this is all we can do for now
I tried over and over to get one. I tried to register with the IRS thru the same email address as last year they do not recognize me. I did move since spring 2019 is that why? I was told during the Covid lockdown IRS is not issuing pins now. Help! I want to get my stimulus payment direct deposit and am not sure if I gave bank info last year
I'm having the same problem everywhere I turn is a dead end. I've tried the new portal and it rejected me because of the ip pin, I tried the tool to retrieve your ip pin online but I enter all the information and it just says "for your privacy we've logged you out please restart your browser or login to continue" this is bs they need to address this immediately and dedicate a few people to verifying identity
I've tried the new get my payment app and it just says "we cannot complete your request at this time " and logs me out
Nobody can help with that. Only the IRS issues IPPIN's and if required the IRS will reject.
You have three options:
1) Wait. The filing date is July 15 (or Oct 15 if you file an extension but pay any tax due by Jule 15). By then maybe the IRS will return to normal.
2) Print and mail the return. but note that the IRS is not processing mailed returns at this time.
3) Go to a tax professional who can personality identify you and have you sign a e-file release, then a IPPIN is not necessary.
Number 1 I've called every number for the irs and they are not doing live people till they open back up paper filing is no good till they reopen I done been through this I mailed my returned due to this ippin stuff but didnt know they weren't accepting them till it was done in the mail the website to obtain my pin DOES NOT recognize me I'm in same boat
I need to file my taxes but I can't get up pin online they are not taking phone calls does this mean I could file without the pin or what

It does not. See my answer above with the only 3 possibilities.
Just saying on the ira.gov page it even says how they aren't really processing paper returns or even handling mailed in correspondence i just don't get how they can extend the tax deadline but close off all help for you to finish your taxes
Nothing works. Ip pin tool doesn’t verify the correct info. Even if you looking directly at a statement with the correct info. It doesn’t verify. Can’t call to get a new one mailed. It’s site says they are not accepting paper returns. There I’d a tool to file for stimulus payment but only if you haven’t made over 12k. Soo pretty much your screwed. In a state of emergency the government only gives assistance if you filed a return. Natural disasters/ pandemics are emergencies why do it matter if I filed or not . People have bills, kids, sick parents, car notes, mortgages, rent etc to pay.
Im in the same boat and im pissed. How the heck is the IRS unavailable during this time, i mean there should be people available remotely. This is so unorganized and sloppily put together.
I Don’t know if the IRS is taking mail or not but I sent off my taxes along with a change of address after a week or so prior to sending it I went online to the stimulus edition proceeded to log in once I logged in I was prompted to press a button for stimulus info to be sunt I waited a week and finally a message pops up saying it looks like you mailed your tax return already the irs has the info they need to approve a stimulus etc.
I can’t find anywhere where it says IRS is not taking mail.

Paper Tax Returns: All taxpayers should file electronically through their tax preparer, tax software provider or IRS Free File if possible. The IRS is not currently able to process individual paper tax returns. If you already have filed via paper but it has not yet been processed, do not file a second tax return or write to the IRS to inquire about the status of your return or your economic impact payment. Paper returns will be processed once processing centers are able to reopen. This year, more than 90% of taxpayers have filed electronically.
Taxpayer correspondence: While the IRS is receiving and storing mail, our mail processing functions have been scaled back to comply with social distancing recommendations. Currently, we have reduced responses to paper correspondence. Our primary concern is serving taxpayers as indicated in the People First Initiative, which includes numerous actions to alleviate taxpayer burden during this time.
Taxpayers who mail correspondence to the IRS during this period should expect to wait longer than usual for a response. Once normal operations resume it will take the IRS time to work through any correspondence backlog. Correspondence sent to IRS offices may be returned to the taxpayer if that office is closed and no one is available to accept them.
Those sites don't help the ones that have the IP problem, non filers still asking for IP even though your not filing taxes, we are screwed, the irs can't verify your auto loan for me to get my IP nothing is working
