There is no such thing as a "FILE #" ... when you get the transcripts from the IRS they are found under your SS#.

On the IRS page where you request a transcript, leave the Customer File Number blank. You don't need it when you are getting a transcript for your own use. The Customer File Number is an optional entry for lenders or tax professionals who get transcripts for several people at once. They can use it to keep track of which customer each transcript is for.
