To have HOH filing status you must first select your filing status as either Single or Married and Not filing with your spouse. Then you have to enter a dependent and answer all the follow-up questions so the program can determine whether or not you are eligible for HOH.

To file as head of household, you must:

Pay for more than half of the household expenses.
Be considered unmarried for the tax year, and.
You must have a qualifying child or dependent.

Turbotax will ask you questions during the interview to determine the best filing status for you.
