Sounds like a scam to me. The IRS uses the postal service. Your W-2 has information that someone can use to steal your identity and file a fake return in your name. I would forward any e-mail to [email address removed] .
How Do You Report Suspected Tax Fraud Activity?

Sounds really fishy to me as well. What is prompting you to think you need to email your W-2's? The IRS does not email you. They send letters. They do not call you, and they do not email you.
