Help with 1099-DIV for treasury/municipal money market funds for California

Hey everyone, I need some help filling out the 1099-DIV in TurboTax. I have VMFXX which in 2024 held 59.87% in U.S. Government Obligations per Vanguard tax document below:

https://investor.vanguard.com/content/dam/retail/publicsite/en/documents/taxes/USGO_012025.pdf

In some states like California USGO over 50% meets the threshold requirement to be exempt from state taxes.

I understand TurboTax does not know how to calculate this which is fair.

I just need confirmation on a 1099-DIV it is as simple as taking 1a multiplying it by the percentage (59.87%) and that total is what is input in the US Government interest box in turbotax?

I believe it is this simple for this account but would like confirmation.

@HB88

It is as simple as that ONLY IF that particular Bond fund was the only source for the $$ in box 1a of the 1099-DIV.

If you have stocks and other mutual funds at that brokerage, they will also feed into box 1a of the 1099-DIV...

IF that is the case, you have to use the supplemental sheets that follows your consolidated 1099-B/ -DIV/ -INT set and calculate it only from the box 1a $$ that came just from that particular bond fund.

yeah, I know that Vanguard used to have mutual fund accounts that created a separate 1099-DIV form for every mutual fund...but by now I "think??" everyone has been transitioned to the brokerage account that combines all dividends on one 1099-DIV???   Mabe not yet?

Thanks, that is what I wanted a simple confirmation.

Great point for someone who has multiple bond fund, they show up in other pages which as you stated is combined in 1a.

They are all combined now in the same 1099-DIV these days.
