Health insurance, last year's return
I apparently accidentally put that I had no health insurance last year even though I did (how I managed to do that I do not know) Anyway I just received a letter from the IRS saying that if I didn't get insurance by the 31st I would have to pay their fee. Is updating my info on this year's return enough to get around that or should I be doing more?

Negative. You will have to, most likely, amend your 2015 return.

The letter is a warning for the 2017 tax year return so if you have insurance you can ignore it.
If you paid a penalty on the 2015 or 2016 return and you should not have then simply file a amended return to get the penalty back. Look at line 61 of the form 1040 for the penalty if you paid one.

I got an exemption for last year should I worry about it coming back to haunt me or do you think I can leave it alone?

If you had an exemption then leave it be.
